Install Lords Bot
Download LordsBotSetup, choose a folder and install. The setup adds .NET and WebView2 for you if they are missing.
Lords Bot is installed with LordsBotSetup, one small program that installs the bot and later keeps it up to date. It also installs the Microsoft components the bot needs, so you don’t have to install anything else first.
What you need
- Windows 10 (version 1607) or later, or Windows Server 2016 or later.
- A 64-bit version of Windows.
- An internet connection.
Lords Bot does not run on macOS, Linux, phones or tablets. If you don’t have a Windows PC that can stay on, see Running on a Cloud Server.
Install
- Download LordsBotSetup.exe from lords-bot.com (the Download button).
- Run it. The window is titled Lords Bot Setup. It checks the update server, then shows Ready to install.
- Check the Install location. The default is
%LocalAppData%\Lords Bot(for exampleC:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Lords Bot). This folder is fine for almost everyone and needs no administrator rights. - Click Install. The setup downloads the files, checks each one, and installs the .NET runtime and the WebView2 runtime if your PC doesn’t have them.
- When it says All set, Lords Bot starts by itself.
The setup also creates a Lords Bot shortcut on your desktop and in the Start menu, and an entry in Windows Installed apps (Add or Remove Programs) so you can uninstall it later.
Note: If the setup ends with Restart to finish, Windows needs a restart before it can use the .NET runtime that was just installed. Restart your PC, then start Lords Bot from the desktop shortcut.
Choosing another folder
You can type a different folder or click the folder button next to Install location.
- If you pick a general folder such as Documents, Downloads, the Desktop or Program Files, the setup installs into a Lords Bot sub-folder inside it and shows the corrected path under the field.
- Avoid folders that sync to the cloud, such as OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox. Sync tools can lock or roll back the bot’s settings files while it is running.
After installing
Lords Bot opens on the sign-in screen. Continue with the Quick Start to create your Lords Bot login and add your first game account.
The install folder also contains Monitor.exe, the Lords Monitor watchdog. It is optional; see Lords Monitor.
Upgrading from an old zip version
Very old versions of Lords Bot were downloaded as a zip file and used Updater.exe. When one of these updates, it runs the new setup in place. The setup shows Upgrading from the previous version and:
- copies each account’s settings from
config\into aconfig-backup-<date>folder before it changes anything, and stops if that backup fails; - installs the new version into the same folder, so your accounts and settings stay where they are;
- removes the files the old version no longer needs.
Uninstall
Open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Lords Bot and choose Uninstall. Lords Bot and Lords Monitor are closed first. Then you are asked:
- Yes: keep your accounts and settings, and remove only the program.
- No: remove everything, including your accounts and settings. Your data goes to the Recycle Bin.
- Cancel: don’t uninstall.
“Accounts and settings” means the items listed in What to back up, such as the config folder with your game accounts.
If the install fails
The setup shows Update couldn’t finish (or Update couldn’t be verified) and says your PC was not changed. Click Retry to try again.
- Copy details copies the full error so you can paste it to staff.
- The setup also saves a file called LordsBotSetup.log, in the install folder or next to the setup you ran. The window shows where. If this file exists, the last run had a problem; send it to staff on Discord.
- If the error says the download keeps arriving altered, something on your network (usually antivirus web protection, a web filter or a proxy) is changing the files. Try a different network, such as a phone hotspot or a VPN, or turn off your antivirus web protection while you install.
- If the .NET runtime can’t be installed, see SmartScreen and Antivirus Warnings.
